Our Story. Our company was founded in 1876. It was built through succeeding generations by people who saw opportunities to grow - and took them. Along the way, we have been blessed with an exceptional group of employees. The business of producing, selling, and delivering our products is what it appears to be - hard work! quite slow in comparison to railroad building in other Great Plains states. By the beginning of 1878 only two short lines had been built in the state. The Chicago, Milwaukee, Saint Paul and Pacific Railroad Company (hereafter called the Milwaukee) had built a line about fifty-four miles long from Sioux City, Iowa,Iowa Railroad Jobs. There are 15 freight railroads and 3,727 railroad employees in Iowa, operating 3,897 miles of track and earning an average annual wage of $71,800.
